LECO Technology

The TechniFris Air Steriliser & Ethylene Remover uses the patented LECO Technology invented by Dr. Syriac Joseph Palackal in Germany. 

LECO (Low Energy Cascade Oxidation) is an Advanced Photocatalytic Oxidation process wherein air is passed through a chamber with a non-toxic photocatalytic surface that is activated using visible light. The activated catalyst converts moisture in the air to Hydroxyl radicals that has the second highest oxidation power known in chemistry. The Hydroxyl radicals reacts with any organic matter to oxidise it to Carbon dioxide - the VOCs (such as ethylene) and all airborne pathogens are destroyed.  Essentially the LECO technology performs the burning process without heat or flame. 

The technology has already shown successful results in the healthcare sector in India. Used in ICU's, post-operative care, and such spaces requiring protection of vulnerable patients from air-borne microbes, it has proven its effectiveness in bringing microbe counts to negligible levels as well as removing odours. 

TechniFris has identified the potential of this technology to increase sustainability in the food sector and will be pioneering this in close collaboration with the scientist himself.
